On Thursday, his family told local media that Nawaz Sharif, who used to be prime minister, has been using a diplomatic passport.
Sharif family confirms Nawaz has a diplomatic passport:
The 72-year-old man told reporters in London, where he is living in self-imposed exile after going there for treatment during his time in prison for corruption, that he has had a diplomatic passport
“for some time.”
Earlier today, there were reports that the federal government had given Mr. Sharif a diplomatic passport for five years after getting approval from the Foreign Ministry.
In February of last year, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government took away his regular passport. In April, the Pakistani Embassy in London gave him a new one.
There are also rumours that the top PML-N leader will come back from London to Pakistan next month.
